Our future (temporary) home

22 Jun

One of the big issues of the upcoming move has been resolved!  We had originally planned to fly over to Amsterdam in late July for a few days to go apartment hunting, but because this is still “high season” for travel, it was going to cost us a small fortune to do so, plus use up a few of our vacation days from work.

Instead, we are renting a short-stay apartment in August when we move, and we’ll use our time there to get more familiar with the city, and go apartment hunting.  Since we’ve only spent 4 days in Amsterdam, we still are pretty clueless when it comes to the neighborhoods, so this extra time will be a great help.  It will also give us time to get all the paperwork in order for our bank accounts, register with the city, and get Roxy her residence permit.

The temporary apartment is near Vondelpark and Rembrantpark, too bad our dog Churchill won’t be coming over until November.  Here’s a few images of the temporary place:

That place looks gorgeous! My cousin lives right by Vondelpark on the Overtoom. Happy adventures in Holland – I’m super jealous.

It is fairly nice, thought now that we’re here you can tell everything is cheap IKEA furniture. We’ll be moving into our new apartment next week on the other side of town.
